In the journey of battling breast cancer, a mastectomy is often a necessary step towards healing and recovery. However, what many may not anticipate is the slow and often challenging process of recovery that follows this surgical procedure. In my own personal journey, I was not prepared for these challenges. I wish I had known of the movement difficulties and pain from performing simple tasks like getting out of bed and getting dressed. Had I been prepared, it would have lessened the anxiety that I thought something must be wrong.
